Plastic Surgery Medical Recommendations
In addition to these medical recommendations, there are other tips such as preparing the resting place beforehand, having the help of a family member and a quiet place for the patient to rest properly.
It is possible that the surgeon asks you to have a mammogram, ultrasound or an X-ray test before breast surgery to be able to rule out any abnormality, so the surgeon will obtain a pre-operative image of the breast tissue, these previous analyzes are performed both for augmentation as for breast reduction.
In the case of patients who live outside of Miami or who, for some reason, cannot go to the clinic to start the process and obtain the previous evaluation, our Coordinators will contact them by telephone to request photos that allow an accurate evaluation to determine the procedure that the patient may need.
These photos are totally confidential and only used to allow our Coordinators to have an assessment regarding the type of procedure, estimated price and general guidelines. Many of our patients are unaware of the characteristics that these photos should have, that is, how they should be taken depending on the type of treatment to be performed.
Therefore, here is a sample of how the photos should be taken to be evaluated for breast augmentation in Miami.
BREAST AUGMENTATION & CONSULTATION PROCESS
The consultation is the ideal space for doctor/patient communication.
The patient should discuss their expectations about breast surgery in the consultation and the surgeon will advise them throughout the process.
The doctor will help the patient while choosing their desired breast size, taking into account the patient’s anatomy and breast characteristics, as well as choosing their desired implants that will be used during surgery(saline implants or silicone implants).
The surgeon should ensure that the patient is familiar with the process and that they understand all the previous recommendations.
They must take into account before breast surgery and that they play a fundamental role in the success of the process.
Some of these recommendations are usually:
- Do not take anticoagulant medications before breast surgery
- Do not smoke, at least one month before (and one month after surgery)
- Do not take vitamin supplements, energy drinks, or medications of any kind except those approved by your surgeon before and after surgery
If you feel that you are not satisfied with the size or shape of your bust, breast augmentation may be ideal for you.
Breast Augmentation | Types of breast implants
Silicone breast implants have evolved greatly in their manufacture, differing significantly from the old silicone implants. The current fluid that fills the silicone bags is a thicker cohesive gel that minimizes the risks of breakage.
Silicone implants are currently FDA approved for use in the United States and undergo rigorous quality tests.
Of course, silicone is not only used for breast implants, but it is present in numerous medical devices such as coronary valves, artificial joints, etc. Saline implants are silicone sachets filled with, as the name implies, saline solution, a fluid similar to the one found in most of our bodies.
This type of breast prosthesis is introduced first and then filled with the saline solution inside the pocket.
Many people claim that silicone implants achieve a result that is more similar to the shape and texture of the natural breast, and that saline water implants are firmer and create a more spectacular shape.
The truth is that both types are certified for use in breast augmentation with the greatest safety, and the choice between one responds to the patient’s preference along with the surgeon’s recommendation.
Breast augmentation with implants | Recovery and postoperative care
Once the surgery is performed, the patient will be taken to the recovery room. This surgery does not require hospitalization so the patient can go home as soon as they have recovered from anesthesia.
The patient must attend the first medical follow-up 24 hours after surgery. The complete follow-up process is structured in appointments every 7 days until reaching the month when the medical discharge will be assessed.
On the first appointment, the medical team will instruct the patient to make the recovery quick and successful. If the patient has any doubts about recovery, she can call the clinic at any time.
Breast augmentation surgery can cause some inflammation and discomfort, like any surgery, but as the days go by, the discomfort will subside.
For the first days of the postoperative period, it is recommended to sleep in a reclined position.
Smoking is not recommended one month before and one month after surgery. It is not recommended to take anticoagulant medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen due to bleeding risks.
It is recommended not to raise your arms above your shoulders and do not drive for at least fifteen days.
Generally, patients are able to return to their daily activities 10 days after surgery as long as they take into account the necessary care.
It is not recommended to perform any activity that requires physical effort or sudden movements.
General recommendations before surgery with breast implants:
- Do not take anticoagulants. (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil)

Breast augmentation with fat transfer
In addition to Breast Augmentation with implants in My Cosmetic Surgery Miami, breast enlargement is done by using the patient’s own fat.
The indispensable requirement to be a candidate for this procedure is to have accumulated fat in other parts of the body which will be extracted, optimized and distributed in the breasts through injections.
Unlike the increase with implants, this treatment can only increase the breast volume in one or two sizes.
One of the most important benefits of breast augmentation with fat transfer is that the possibility of rejection of this fat is practically null because it comes from the patient himself.
In addition, this procedure has barely visible scars, since it is only the incisions made to inject the fat.
The intervention is completely painless and at the same time that improves the aesthetic appearance of the breasts by increasing its volume and giving it a natural appearance, it also achieves a more defined silhouette by the liposculpture that is performed to extract the fat.
