What Is it?
Labiaplasty is a surgical intervention which we call “intimate surgeries.”
This procedure, generally for aesthetic purposes, is done to restore the woman’s youthful appearance of her labia.
The desire for aesthetic reconstruction has also reached the genital area, so much so that many women choose to have this procedure done.
The most common procedures are the reduction of the labia minora and the increase of the labia majora.
Who Can Have This Procedure Done?
This procedure can be performed for women of all ages who are not comfortable with the shape or size of their labia. The “intimate” area is extremely important so being comfortable with the appearance of this area plays an important role in the self-esteem of women. Over the years, childbirth, overexertion, and also some genetic conditions can cause aesthetic alterations in the female genital area. For this predicament, cosmetic surgery has developed techniques such as labiaplasty.
What Results Can I Expect From This Procedure?
From this procedure you can expect a total rejuvenation of your labia in either shape or size. Our professionals can reduce the size of the labia minora or increase the labia majora to return the original and desired form of your “intimate” area.
The consultation is the ideal place for patients to talk to their doctor about the surgery and it’s options. The patient should tell the doctor their expectations regarding the surgery and ask any questions they may have. Each case is different and personalized for Labioplasty because every woman is unique.
Technique and Protocol
This procedure is classified as minor surgery and can be performed under local anesthesia and a sedative, for the comfort of the patient. In the reduction of the labia minora, the surgeon will make a small incision that allows the doctor to remove excess tissue and skin. Once the excess is skin removed, the surgeon will close the incision. In the case of increasing the labia majora, fat microinjections are more commonly used, so a traditional incision is required.
Recovery and Aftercare
As with any of our surgeries, once the procedure is done, monitoring will be conducted to check the overall health status of the patient and their evolution during the postoperative period. The medical staff will give all necessary recommendations for a speedy recovery. The patient is required to rest for the 48 hours following the surgery. The patient will be able to return to their regular daily lives about 7 days after surgery. Inflammation and discomfort will gradually diminish during the first seven days. It is recommended that the patient refrain from any physical exercise during the first 7 days after surgery. After a Labioplasty procedure, the patient should refrain from intercourse for about 4 weeks.
