Enhancing Technique and Protocol for Breast Lift Procedures

At My Cosmetic Surgery, breast lift surgery is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia, and due to its excellent results, more women opt for this procedure every day.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant changes in body weight, and aging are just a few of the diverse causes that can lead to a woman’s breasts losing their natural shape. The process of sagging and loosening is known as breast ptosis, and all women experience it to varying degrees.

At My Cosmetic Surgery, breast lift surgery is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia, and due to its excellent results, more women opt for this procedure every day.

In a breast lift, the surgeon makes 1 to 3 surgical incisions on the breasts to remove excess skin. The areola and nipple are repositioned to a higher position to create a natural symmetry.

This surgical procedure can be performed using three different techniques. The first is known as the concentric or periareolar breast lift, performed around the areola. This intervention is typically recommended for women with small breasts and mild breast sagging, requiring fewer incisions and producing minimal scarring.

Another technique is the Vertical or Circumvertical Breast Lift. This technique is reserved for moderate ptosis, meaning moderately sagging breasts. In this surgery, an incision is made around the areola and a vertical one from the areola downwards. This method removes excess fat around the areola, helping to reduce sagging and reshape the breast.

The Anchor or Inverted T-shaped Breast Lift is another technique. Women with large, extremely soft breasts, damaged by stretch marks, or experiencing a higher degree of sagging require an anchor-shaped breast lift. This surgery is ideal for removing excess skin and tissue, involving three incisions: one around the areola, one vertical, and one horizontal in the breast crease.

Once the breasts have been lifted, the patient may choose, or not, to have silicone or saline implants for volume enhancement or undergo breast reduction. These surgeries complement mastopexy perfectly.

Many patients express concern about the size and location of scars from this surgical intervention. It is important to understand that without the use of the appropriate technique, the results of a breast lift may not be satisfactory or long-lasting. Additionally, when surgical wounds heal satisfactorily, they often become inconspicuous over time.
