Breast Augmentation Miami - Technique and protocol

Each patient is different so, during the consultation, the surgeon will make a personalized assessment in order to choose the most appropriate Breast Augmentation technique. Broadly speaking, the surgeon will make an incision to enter the breast tissue. After the incision, the surgeon creates a space within the breast, called the Pocket, to achieve a perfect fit of the prosthesis.

The incision, depending on the characteristics of the patient, can be around the areola or in the lower fold of the breast or armpit. In the case of saline implants, the surgeon inserts the implant and then fills them with saline water. Silicone implants are pre- filled with a cohesive silicone gel, so the surgeon simply inserts the implants with the desired volume. This procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.

Breast Augmentation - Types of Breast Implants

The manufacturing of  silicone implants   has evolved greatly, differing   significantly from the old silicone implants. The fluid that fills the  silicone bags is a cohesive gel (thicker than the old ones) that minimizes the risk of breakage.   Currently,  silicone implants are approved by the F.D.A for use in the United States and are subjected to rigorous quality testing. Of course, silicone is not only used for breast implants but is also  present in numerous medical devices such as coronary valves, artificial joints, etc.

Saline implants are silicone bags filled with, as its name suggests, saline, a fluid solution similar to that found in most of our body. These types of implants are installed first and then later filled with the saline solution.

Many people claim that silicone implants achieve a result that more closely resembles the shape of the natural breast and that saline implants are firmer. The truth is that both breast implants are certified for use in breast augmentation with much security.

After the Breast Augmentation, the patient will be taken to the recovery room. This surgery does not require hospitalization in Miami so the patient, once recovered from anesthesia, can go home. The patient will be attended by the medical staff 24 hours after the surgery. This monitoring is structured in appointments that will be scheduled every 7 days up to a month after surgery, when the doctor will assess the medical discharge.

In the first appointment (24 hours after surgery), the medical team will give the patient instructions to ensure the patient achieves a fast & successful recovery.
