DNA Salmon
DNA Salmon | Overview
Salmon DNA in Miami
A polynucleotide serum can’t get through your skin on its own the molecule is far too large. That’s the whole reason this treatment exists. Our microneedling device creates thousands of precise microchannels and carries the salmon DNA down into the skin, where it can actually do something. You get the collagen response of medical microneedling plus deep hydration, a calmer recovery and a faster glow. No injections, no syringes.
How Salmon DNA Works?
Once polynucleotides are delivered into the skin, four things happen at once:
-
Fibroblasts wake up: The cells that produce collagen and elastin are stimulated back into activity, which is what firms and thickens thin, crepey skin over the following weeks.
-
Water gets held where it matters: Polynucleotides bind water within the extracellular matrix, so hydration comes from within the tissue instead of sitting on the surface in a cream.
-
Inflammation settles: PDRN has a well-documented calming effect, which is why redness-prone and post-procedure skin often responds so well.
-
Repair accelerates: The same mechanism that makes PDRN useful in wound-healing medicine is what smooths texture, softens scarring and speeds recovery from other treatments.
Is Salmon DNA the Same as the “Salmon Sperm Facial”?
Yes. “Salmon sperm facial” is an informal term that circulated widely on social media, and it refers to the same category of treatment described here.
The name reflects the original source material rather than the product used in clinic. Polynucleotides are derived from salmon milt and then undergo a multi-stage purification process fractionation, filtration and sterilization that isolates the DNA fragments and removes cellular material and proteins. What arrives in a treatment room is a sterile, standardized medical-grade gel manufactured to pharmaceutical purity standards.
We use the clinical terminology (Polynucleotides, or PDRN) because it accurately describes what the treatment delivers.
How We Deliver Salmon DNA at My Cosmetic Surgery.
Once in the consultation, our nurses and cosmetic specialist will guide to the best option to proceed with the treatment.
Salmon DNA Microneedling
A polynucleotide serum is driven into the skin through hundreds of micro-channels created by a medical microneedling pen. The needling itself stimulates collagen; the salmon DNA amplifies the healing response and cuts the recovery time.
- Best for: overall glow, enlarged pores, uneven tone, mild texture, first-timers, anyone wanting a lower price point
- Treatment time: 45–60 minutes including numbing
- Downtime: flushed like a mild sunburn for 12–24 hours, occasional light flaking on day 3
- Course: typically 3–4 sessions, 4 weeks apart
Salmon DNA Microneedling vs Standard Microneedling
If you’ve had regular microneedling, this is the same treatment with a better finish.
| Standard microneedling | Salmon DNA microneedling | |
| Collagen stimulation | Yes | Yes — same mechanism |
| Serum delivered | Usually saline or basic HA | Polynucleotide (PDRN) serum |
| Post-treatment redness | 24–48 hours typical | Often calmer, settles faster |
| Immediate hydration | Minimal | Noticeably plumper within days |
| Comfort during healing | Tight, dry days 2–3 | Generally more comfortable |
| Best for | Texture, scarring, lines | The same, plus dullness and dehydration |

What does Salmon DNA Improve?
- Radiance. The most immediately visible outcome, typically apparent within the first week following treatment.
- Sustained hydration. Polynucleotides bind water within the skin, supporting hydration that is maintained throughout the day rather than diminishing after the morning routine.
- Refined texture and pore appearance. A smoother, more even skin surface, with refinement in the appearance of enlarged pores.
- Softened fine lines. Improvement in the appearance of superficial lines, particularly the fine crosshatching across the cheeks and the periorbital area.
- Improved tone and clarity. A brighter, more even complexion with reduced sallowness.
- Post-acne texture. Improvement in the appearance of rolling and boxcar scarring across a complete treatment course.
- Suitability for sensitive skin. Frequently better tolerated than standard microneedling, as the polynucleotide serum supports the skin’s recovery response.
- Skin resilience. Improved barrier function and a faster recovery response to subsequent treatments and environmental stressors.
This treatment will not lift sagging skin, replace lost volume, or remove deep static wrinkles. If that’s what you’re after, we’ll tell you at consultation and point you to the treatment that actually does it. Salmon DNA microneedling works best alongside those treatments, not instead of them.
Are You a Good Candidate?
A strong fit if you:
- Have dry, dull, congested or dehydrated skin
- Are in your late 20s to 40s and want maintenance rather than reversal
- Want visible improvement nobody can point to
- Are not willing to have anything injected into your face, this is the treatment for you
- Have textural concerns or post-acne scarring
- Are sensitive or reactive and haven’t tolerated aggressive treatments well
- Are preparing for an event 8–12 weeks out
Not right if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an active skin infection, cold sore outbreak, or open wound in the area
- Have active, inflamed acne in the treatment area
- Have a keloid-scarring tendency
- Have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners you can’t pause
- Have a known fish or seafood allergy (rarely a true barrier — we’ll assess it)
- Are on isotretinoin or finished it within the last 6 months
- Want a dramatic, immediate change — this isn’t that treatment
At my Cosmetic Surgery we provide a Free Consultation and we will tell you if you are a good candidate for this treatment.
What to Expect, Step by Step
Before the process: Do not use retinoids and exfoliating acids for 3–5 days, avoid sunburn or fresh tan, avoid alcohol for 24 hours, Come with clean skin and no makeup.
During Treatment (approximately 60 minutes): The skin is cleansed and a topical anesthetic is applied for approximately 20 minutes. The microneedling pass takes a further 20 to 30 minutes, with the polynucleotide serum applied throughout the treatment and layered over the skin on completion. Most patients describe the sensation as a light vibration with mild scratching and report it to be well tolerated. The forehead and hairline are typically the most sensitive areas.
The First 24 hours: expect to look flushed, like a mild sunburn. Skin will feel warm and tight. No makeup, no gym, no hot showers, no sauna, no swimming, no touching your face. Sleep on your back if you can.
Days 2–5: Redness generally resolves by the end of the first day. Light flaking or a temporary sandpaper-like texture may develop around day three; do not pick or exfoliate the skin. Use a gentle cleanser and a plain moisturizer, and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen each morning without exception. Newly formed collagen is vulnerable to ultraviolet exposure, and unprotected sun exposure will compromise the results of your treatment.
Week Two Onward: Active skincare may be reintroduced after seven days. Your next session should be scheduled at approximately four weeks after, so your skin can have the radiance has.
